SR: THE U.S. ASKS SWEDEN FOR MILITARY SUPPORT IN THE RED SEA
According to sources to the public broadcaster SR, the U.S. has asked the Swedish government to participate in its Red Sea military operations against the Houthi rebels in Yemen. Johan Hjelmstrand, press secretary to Defense Minister Pål Jonsson, has confirmed that such a request has been received.
PERSSON FAMILY BUYS BILLIONS’ WORTH OF H&M STOCK
Following the change of CEO and following stock fall, H&Ms owner, the Persson family, increased their control over H&M. During the past weekend, the family bought 16.2 million shares in the company, to a worth of 2,6 billion SEK, which means that they now control 58,7% of the company’s capital and 80,1% of the shares. This has fueled speculation that the Persson family will buy out H&M from the stock in the following years.
SAAB RECIEVES MAJOR ORDER FROM NATO
The Swedish defense company SAAB recently received an order worth 63 million Euro from NATO’s procurement agency NSPA. The order was for SAAB’s anti-tank weapon AT4 and the weapons will be delivered in 2026-2027.
SWECO SIGNS 100 MILLION EURO DUTCH DEAL
The Swedish tech consulting company Sweco has signed a 100 million Euro deal with Gasunie, a Dutch energy company. Sweco will support Gasunie with consulting, engineering technology and environmental studies over a 10 year period. ‘’Gasunie is in the process of carrying out a transformation from natural gas to renewable gas, including hydrogen. To make this transformation possible, 1200 kilometers of new and existing gas lines with a 3,5 gigawatt capacity has to be prepared in the Netherlands during the following ten years.’’ Sweco has written in a press release.
