Lithuanian National Section of IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) is a global and voluntary NGO whose mission is to protect children’s rights to an accessible culture regardless of their race, nationality, gender, social or other circumstances. IBBY responds to a variety of crises around the world such as wars, natural and man-made disasters by providing children with books, puppet theatre, games and cultural activities. They believe that besides food and shelter children’s participation in culture is one of their essential needs.

Together with organizations such as the Red Cross, Save the Children, Maltese and others, they respond to the refugee situation in Lithuania by protecting children’s right to affordable education and culture. IBBY does this by carrying out various educational activities and by creating libraries for children and their parents. They also contribute by supplying stationeries for the schools of the refugees.
